Budgie Hormonal Behavior

Budgie Hormonal Behavior

Budgie Hormonal Behavior

  • Aggression (biting)
  •  Not going out of the cage
  • Territorial
  • Mating with objects (male)
  • siting in a place like she is about to lay eggs (female)

If your budgie is older than 6 months old and you notice him doing these things mentioned above, then he is hormonal

Hormonal phase is hard and is frustrating with all biting and aggressive behavior😩

Here are some tips to help your budgie through that phase!

  1. Make sure his cage isn't placed in dark or dull place.
  2. Let him sleep 12 hours at least.
  3. Try to teach him new tricks and keep him busy with training.
  4. If he refuses to step up or get out of cage even with using treats, then leave him for a while he may not be in the mood.
  5. Remove any mirrors (reflective objects) and nest (or objects that can be used as nests)
  6. Get for him a partner if he is alone
  7. Get for him shredding toys to keep him entertained and reduce the biting!
